Waiting...

Norma's Kitchen

It's been a frustrating few weeks. Some scheduled work on Norma stretched into some unscheduled work on Mac the Micro-camper, and all of a sudden I haven't left Cambridgeshire in weeks.

With both vans off the road for different reasons I've been staying local while we try to get MoT tests passed, door locks fixed, warning lights investigated. I can't complain too much. Neither van has given any trouble before and both are tantalizingly close to 200k miles a piece.

Nevertheless, knowing I can't just ~ go ~ somewhere has been frustrating and has had a negative effect on both my usefulness and mental health. I have managed to have more that the usual amount of time working behind the scenes on the archive. Sorting and labeling photographs, creating a mood board of sorts for my future magazine issues.

I've also been able to spend some time with my index cards and the physical archive. I have a slight obsession with keeping the non-digital archive as orderly and active as possible. I bought a few more storage boxes this week and have been setting up new counties. I'm sure many would find this tedious, but there is something pleasing about this level of order for me! Each county box has a ticket for each village and town. Behind each ticket I file printed photos, notes, scraps of paper, and any bits of information I want to keep safe. I can't take these files on the road, so they live under my Dad's settee. Soon, I will need a bigger space as there will eventually be far too many for their present home.

I have appreciated the time spent on the background stuff, but I'm feeling the pressure to focus on socials more than is happening. I will endeavour to get back to that once I'm back on the road and adventuring again....

If you'd like to help support the project, stationery items like index cards, box files, and pens are on our Amazon wishlist and always gratefully received!
